A state committee on Tuesday confirmed the candidacy of Denis Zvizdic as Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)'s next Council of Ministers (CoM) chairman, thus starting the procedure to form a state-level government.
Members from the Committee for the Preparation of Election of BiH CoM voted to confirm Zvizdic's candidacy, which will be followed by a vote at a parliamentary session scheduled on Wednesday.
As Zvizdic is a candidate from the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), the winner of the general election, he is assured to win the vote and get a four-year mandate.
Zvizdic, meanwhile, said his top priority for the next government was European-Atlantic integration. He promised to build an effective coordination mechanism between levels of the authorities in BiH to speed up the process to join the European Union.
"The second priority is effective public administration reforms and stabilization of public spending, as well as the issue of internal and external stability and security as a precondition for general economic development," said Zvizdic.
The CoM is a weak state-level executive branch in BiH, as its chairman cannot choose his cabinet. The parties that currently form the majority in Parliamentary Assembly will delegate their members to this executive body. Endit
