Japan's agri exports hit record high in 2014

Japan's exports of agricultural, forestry and marine products in 2014 jumped 11.1 percent from the previous year, hitting a record high of 611.7 billion yen (5.16 billion U.S. dollars), government data showed Tuesday.
The rise reflects the popularity of Japanese cuisine overseas, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said, adding the yen's depreciation against the U.S. dollar also helped Japanese exports to become more attractive.
Exports to China, North America and the European Union increased sharply, with apples, beef, green tea and pearls among popular products. Endi
