Xinhua, February 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Sierra Leone's President Ernest Bai Koroma is to participate in a high level conference on Ebola to be organized by the European Union scheduled for March in Brussels.

The invitation to attend the high level conference was formally handed to the President by the European Union delegate to Sierra Leone Peter Veersteeg at state house on Monday.

President Koroma was also requested to chair the conference.

According to Veersteeg, the conference will discuss among other things the progress made in the fight against the Ebola virus together with the post Ebola challenges.

It will also assess the critical needs of the three Ebola ravaged countries of Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia that the EU can help.

He said the conference will also be attended by the Heads of State of Guinea and Liberia whilst delegates from the United Nations and the African Union will be in attendance.

The EU representative commended the President for his effort in fighting the disease, noting that "his resolve has significantly yielded tremendous gains so far".

Whilst acknowledging the invitation, President Koroma told the EU envoy that " Sierra Leone will definitely participate" and will revert to the Envoy after perusing the contents of the invitation. Endi
