The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) launched attacks on several government outposts in Kokang region, Myanmar's northeastern Shan state, on Monday, according to local sources.

A 1,000-strong MNDAA started the assaults on the areas of Laukkai, Tar Shwe Tan, Kong Kyan and Nyan Khun at 12:30 p.m. (0600 GMT).(Myanmar-Attack)

PARIS -- Masked gunmen opened fire on a police car on Monday in Marseille in southern France, local media reported.

After shots were reportedly fired into the air near a housing estate in the north of Marseille on Monday morning, police rushed to the scene. (France-Police-Shooting)

KABUL -- A Taliban key commander allegedly affiliated with the Islamic State group had been killed in Taliban former stronghold, the restive Helmand province on Monday, provincial police chief said.

"Taliban key commander in the southern region, Mullah Abdul Rauf, was killed as aircraft pounded their position in Azan area of Kajaki district at 9:00 a.m. local time today," Nabi Jan Mullahkhil told reporters here. (Afghanistan-IS-Crackdown)

DAMASCUS -- As many as 15 people were killed and dozens of others wounded on Monday in government airstrikes on a rebel-held area east of the capital Damascus, a monitoring group reported.

Government forces also fired mortar shells on Douma in eastern Damascus amid renewed shelling by barrel bombs, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, adding that many of the wounded were in critical condition. (Syria-Civil-War)

BAGHDAD -- At least 13 people were killed and 46 others injured in two separate bomb attacks in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Monday morning, a police source said.

In one of the attacks, a suicide bomber detonated the explosive vest on him at the crowded Adan Square in Baghdad's northern district of Kadhmiyah, leaving at least 12 killed and 42 wounded, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-Bomb-Attacks) Endi
