Xinhua, February 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Taiwan's exports rose 3.4 percent in January from a year ago to reach 25.12 billion U.S. dollars, boosted by strong electronics exports, according to customs statistics released on Monday.

Imports fell 4.8 percent year on year to 20.32 billion U.S. dollars, resulting in a greater trade surplus of 4.8 billion U.S. dollars, compared with 4.45 billion U.S. dollars recorded in December 2014.

On a monthly basis, exports were down 2.1 percent from December 2014. After being seasonally adjusted due to the Spring Festival holiday last year, the export figures added 0.5 percent month on month.

Exports of electronics increased 11.9 percent year on year to reach 8.35 billion U.S. dollars.

The Chinese mainland remained Taiwan's largest trading partner, with exports to the mainland worth 6.71 billion U.S. dollars and imports 4.12 billion U.S. dollars. Endi
