Myanmar development partners reiterate commitment to cooperation

Xinhua, February 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Myanmar's development stakeholders have reiterated commitment to ensuring cooperation to work effectively for the benefit of all communities and be involved in shaping Myanmar's transition towards inclusive development.

The development partners, which include the government, parliament, political parties, international development partners, local and international civil societies, the private sector and academia, renewed the commitment in their joint statement published on Monday at the end of the two-day third Myanmar Development Cooperation Forum held in Nay Pyi Taw.

In accordance with the 2014 Nay Pyi Taw Accord Action Plan, an online aid information management system has been set up to help better direct support to the need.

The government also enhanced its commitment to transparency including through membership of the International Aid Transparency Initiative and a commitment to joining the Open Government Partnership and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, the statement said.

The statement added that the stakeholders also recommitted themselves to working through open, inclusive and innovative partnership with Myanmar to support the realization of its development potential through the observance of the Nay Pyi Taw Accord for Effective Development Cooperation.

The third Myanmar Development Cooperation Forum, held under the theme of "Building upon Foundation -- Focusing Towards Future Inclusive Inclusion," focused on strategic development plans of the country.

It also centered on human capacity enhancement, land resources management, social protection, rural development and poverty alleviation.

Myanmar held the previous two development cooperation forums in 2013 and 2014, respectively. Endi
