Players fined for Super Bowl match scuffle

Xinhua, February 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Seattle seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin was fined 10,000 dollars on Friday for igniting a scuffle at the end of Super Bowl 49.

The New England Patriots were trying to run out the clock after Malcolm Butler's win-sealing interception in Arizona on Sunday when some tempers flared.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was trying to take a knee and let the clock run out when Irvin got into a shoving match with Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Irvin who was ejected from the contest and later apologized, drew the heaviest fine. His teammate Michael Bennett was fined 8,268 dollars and the same fines went to Gronkowski and fellow Patriots tight end Michael Hoomanawanui. Endi
