China is Ebola-free: Health authority

Xinhua, February 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

China has no confirmed or suspected Ebola cases, a health official said Friday.

Deputy director of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, Ma Xiaowei, was responding to questions from reporters on Friday who raised concern over hearsay that someone in North China had tested positive for the virus.

Ma said China was continuing to help West African countries to cope with the virus.

China has provided four batches of aid worth 750 million yuan (120 million U.S. dollars) to West Africa, and dispatched almost 800 medical experts to the region.

Chinese medical experts in Sierra Leone have checked about 4,000 samples and seen over 600 patients. In addition, a China-built treatment center in Liberia has treated more than 100 out-patients and over 60 in-patients since opening in November. Endi
