Rockets rally past Bulls in home win

Xinhua, February 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

James Harden scored 27 points to lead his team the Houston Rockets past the Chicago Bulls 101-90 Wednesday night at Toyota Center.

The two teams had a tight first quarter and tied the match to 27 entering the second. Harden stood out then, scoring 15 points alone in that quarter. He helped Houston build an early lead which was never turned over during the rest of the game.

The Rockets led 57-48 by halftime. They enlarged that advantage in the early part of the third quarter, once leading by 16 points. But the Bulls had a comeback, cut the deficit and trailed only by five entering the final period.

The Rockets made a spurt of 13-0 and once again widened the gap to 18 points. The Bulls tried to catch up but the deficit was too big to erase. Without much suspense, the Rockets held on to their final victory.

The Rockets again played without center Dwight Howard, who was out with a right knee injury. Trevor Ariza contributed 20 points and Donatas Motiejunas chipped in 15 points with 10 rebounds.

Jimmy Butler scored 27 points for the Bulls, while Derrick Rose had 23. It was their third straight loss. Endite
