Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said it is reasonable to amend the country's constitution after the upper house election scheduled for the summer of 2016, local media reported Thursday.

According to Japan's Asahi Shimbun, Abe expressed his view Wednesday when he talked with Hajime Funada, chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), for the promotion of revision to the constitution. (Japan-Constitution Amendment)

COLOMBO-- Sri Lanka's government on Thursday approved a 1.4 billion U.S. dollar port city project earmarked as the largest Chinese investment project in the country to date, an official said.

Cabinet spokesman and Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senarathne told reporters that the project, which was being reassessed for its environmental feasibility by the new government, had received approval. (Sri Lanka-Port City-China)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have successfully completed negotiations on the sixth review under the 3-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program for an amount of 6. 64 billion U.S. dollars, officials from both sides said on Thursday.

This will enable the IMF to go to their board for the release of seventh tranche of about 518 million U.S. dollars, Pakistani Finance Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar said at a joint press conference with IMF Mission Chief Jeffrey Franks in Dubai where the talks were held. (Pakistan-IMF-Fund)

MANILA -- Philippine President Benigno Aquino III is confident that the military and the police would not betray him amid strong criticisms against him following an operation against suspected terrorists which resulted in the deaths of 44 police commandos, a senior government official said Thursday.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that there was no need for Malacanang, the presidential palace, to conduct loyalty check among the men in uniform. (The Philippines-President) Endi
