Seoul shares ended lower on Thursday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) declined 9.95 points, or 0.51 percent, to 1,952.84 at the close. Trading volume stood at 391 million shares worth 4.23 trillion won (3.88 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks fell 0.98 percent on Thursday after the European Central Bank tightened liquidity for Greek banks and crude oil prices' decline.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 174.12 points from Wednesday at 17,504.62.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market continued its winning run for an 11th straight day on Thursday -- largely thanks to China's latest stimulus measure.

The People's Bank of China on Wednesday relaxed the amount of reserves commercial banks are required to hold, freeing up more than 100 billion U.S. dollars.

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed down 0.01 percent on Thursday with the weighted index down 1.87 points at 9,512.05.
