Thai premier to hold trade talks with Abe in Tokyo

Xinhua, February 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Thai Premier Prayut Chan-o-cha will leave for Japan on Sunday to discuss bilateral trade and investment with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe, Thai government officials said on Thursday.

Topics of their discussion due on Monday during Prayut's three- day visit, will cover planned promotions for Thai goods exports to Japan, increased Japanese investments in Thailand and international rail projects in the Southeast Asian region.

The Thai leader will call for Japan to expand investment in the manufacturing of jewelry, garments, rubber and automobiles in Thailand.

Prayut will also suggest that Japanese people who may have retired from work in Japan come to settle down in Thailand where health care, lodging accommodations and other services are readily available.

Japan had invested more than 670 projects in Thailand, involving about 10 billion U.S. dollars in combined value as of last year. Endi
