Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Colombia locked their berths at this year's New Zealand U-20 World Cup after the penultimate round of the South American U-20 Championship here on Wednesday.

Top scorer Giovanni Simeone from Argentina, the son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, scored twice in La Albiceleste's 3-0 thrash of Paraguay, adding his goal tally to nine at the championship.

Brazil substitute Thalles inspired his team to a 5-0 victory over Peru, while host team Uruguay tied with Colombia after a goalless match.

Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Colombia ranked 1st to 4th on the standings and Colombia has a five points lead over fifth placed Paraguay with one round left.

The standings ensured the top four teams the continent's four tickets to the New Zealand U-20 World Cup, which will kick off on May 30. Endi
