Chicago agricultural commodities fall

Xinhua, February 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chicago Board of Trade agricultural commodities closed lower on Wednesday with corn, wheat and soybeans falling.

The most active corn contract for March delivery fell 2.25 cents, or 0.58 percent, to close at 3.835 U.S. dollars per bushel. Soybeans for March delivery dropped 15 cents, or 1.52 percent, to close at 9.72 dollars per bushel. Wheat for March delivery lost 2. 75 cents, or 0.54 percent, to close at 5.11 dollars per bushel.

Soybeans were put under pressure as analysts say yields in Brazil's main product fields, such as Mato Grosso, Goias and Parana, remain supportive. Most soybean fields are yielding near or above their prior 2011 records.

U.S. soybean futures fell also as the dollar rose, analysts said. The U.S. dollar climbed against most major currencies on Wednesday after falling to a one-year low in the previous session.

Corn was put under pressure as the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)'s weekly ethanol report showed U.S. ethanol inventories rose to their highest level since 2012, which was seen as bearish, analysts said. Endite
