Thailand issues arrest warrants for Bangkok explosion suspects

Xinhua, February 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Thailand's Criminal Court has approved arrest warrants against two suspects of a recent bomb explosion in downtown Bangkok, Deputy Police Chief Jakthip Chaijinda said Wednesday.

The two unidentified men were detected on security camera footage, Jakthip said, adding there could have been more accomplices involved in the explosion of two bombs in front of Siam Paragon shopping center on Sunday night.

The suspects could be professional bombers who had done similar things before, as they appeared calm on the footage, according to Jakthip.

Police for the time being believe the blast was politically motivated, he said.

Following the explosion, the Interior Minister ordered heightened security in districts nationwide. More than 260,000 local officials have reportedly begun setting up checkpoints on main roads and searching vehicles. Endi
