3rd LD: Jordan gov't confirms killing of pilot by IS, army vows to revenge

Xinhua, February 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Jordanian government on Tuesday confirmed the killing of Jordanian pilot held captive by the Islamic State(IS), according to state-run Petra new agency.

Also on Tuesday, Jordan Armed Forces said it will take revenge for the killing of the pilot.

The army said in a statement it tried to secure his release but the criminal gang of IS insisted to kill him.

Relatives of Jordanian pilot also condemned his killing, and called for revenge.

Several members of the pilot started gathering in Amman after the Islamic State showed a video in which it showed the pilot burnt to death while alive.

Samer Kasasbeh called for revenge and urged Jordan to withdraw from the international coalition fighting the IS.

The pilot was captured last year after his plane crashed in Syria.

Relatives expressed their anger over killing him alive. They said he is a martyr and a national hero. Endit
