Croatia not satisfied with, but accepts ICJ ruling: PM

Xinhua, February 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on Tuesday said Croatia was dissatisfied with the ruling made by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the United Nations' highest court, rejecting Croatia's genocide claim against Serbia, but was satisfied that Serbian counter-suit was dismissed as well.

The Croatian government would accept the ruling, Milanovic said at Croatian public television HTV after the ICJ announced its ruling.

"We have done almost everything we could have in the past 15 years, we are not happy with the court's decision, but we accept it in a civilised manner," Milanovic said.

However, he expressed Croatia would and could not give up its demands for establishing the truth about its missing persons during the war of 1990s or the restitution of its cultural property.

On Tuesday, the ICJ ruled that neither Serbia nor Croatia committed genocide against each other's populations during the Balkan wars of the 1990s. Endti
