Jordan signes deals with Saudi to get 176 mln USD in aid

Jordan on Tuesday signed five agreements with the Saudi Fund for Development totaling 176 million U.S. dollars, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Jordan's Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ibrahim Seif said the five deals are part of a total of 1.2 billion U.S. dollars that Saudi Arabia pledged to Jordan in 2011 over a period of five years.

The grants will be used to finance health and infrastructure projects , Seif said.

In 2011, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates pledged to each grant 1.25 billion U.S. dollars to Jordan to support its economy. Endit
