Indian stocks close lower

Xinhua, February 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indian stocks market benchmark BSE Sensex closed lower on Tuesday, as interest-rate sensitive stocks declined after the central bank held rates steady, while boosting banks' liquidity in a bid to persuade them to lower lending rates.

The 30-share index closed at 29,000.14, 122.13 points or 0.42 percent down from previous close of 29,122.27 points.

So far in 2015, the Sensex has gained 6.3 percent, while foreign institutional investors have bought 2.88 billion U.S. dollars from local equity markets and 3.72 billion U.S. dollars from debt markets. Endi
