Flash floods hit southern Albania, families evacuated

Xinhua, February 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Flash floods caused by heavy rains have hit southern Albania this week, with many families evacuated, Albanian Daily News reported on Monday.

In Fier, more than 140 families have been evacuated, while in Vlore more than 110 families have been moved to safe places.

Two army helicopters and the country's Armed Forces have helped with the rescue efforts.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama visited the flooded areas in Novosela and Fier.

He said the government will address the problems with determination so that major losses, especially the farmers whose investments have been damaged, are compensated. Endit
