U.S., partners continue airstrikes against IS in Syria, Iraq

U.S. and partner-nation military forces have conducted a total of 27 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) forces in Syria and Iraq over the past two days, the U. S. Defense Department said on Sunday.

According to a DOD statement, ten airstrikes were conducted near Kobani and Dayr Zawr in Syria, destroying three large IS tactical units, five IS tactical units, six IS staging areas, an IS vehicle and an IS checkpoint, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the international military forces conducted 17 airstrikes near Al Asad, Kirkuk, Huwayjah, Bayji, Al Rutbah, Sinjar, Mosul, Haditha, Fallujah and Tal Afar in Iraq, destroying seven IS tactical units, six IS fighting positions, 12 IS vehicles, three IS earth movers and an ISIL weapons storage facility.

Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Iraq include the U.S. , Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Syria include the U.S., Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Endite
