Roundup: German benchmark DAX index hits new all-time high

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday rallied and closed at a new all-time high level of 10,828.01 points.

There was a slight relaxation of tension in Greece as its new government is still engaged in talks with its creditors. More importantly, more details about the bond purchase program of the European Central Bank have been released, driving the blue-chip index 1.25 percent higher, according to analysts.

LANXESS AG, a leading specialty chemicals company, led the risers' list, up by 2.6 percent. Deutsche Bank AG rose by 2.19 percent. BASF SE climbed by 2.08 percent. Muenchener Rueck AG, an reinsurance company, advanced by 1.99 percent, and Siemens AG added 1.99 percent.

Deutsche Lufthansa AG slid the most by 3.32 percent. Steel company ThyssenKrupp AG lost 1.6 percent. Infineon Technologies AG, a semiconductor company, slipped by 1.12 percent. Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA, a medical care company, went down by 0.65 percent, and Merck KGaA, a chemical and pharmaceutical company, ended 0.63 percent lower.

The turnover stood at 4.02 billion euros (around 4.53 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 329.55 million euros (around 371.66 million U.S. dollars). Endit
