Euro area annual inflation down to minus 0.6 pct in January

Xinhua, January 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

The euro area annual inflation is expected to be minus 0.6 percent in January, down from minus 0.2 percent in December in 2014, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, released on Friday.

This negative rate for euro area annual inflation in January is driven by the fall in energy prices. Prices are also expected to fall for food, alcohol and tobacco and non-energy industrial goods. Only prices for services are expected to increase, said Eurostat. Endit
