Tokyo stocks rise on Wall Street gains while Japan data mixed

Tokyo stocks ended 0.63 percent higher at midday Friday following Wall Street gains overnight, but rises were limited as mix data clouded the economic picture of Japan.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average were up 111.1 points from Thursday's session to 17,717.32.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 7.79 points, or 0.55 percent, to 1,421. 37.

Major gainers included fishery, insurance, and pulp and paper issues. Endi
