Hungarian museum readies terracotta soldiers for exhibition

Xinhua, January 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Budapest Museum of Applied Arts unpacked two life-sized Chinese terracotta soldiers here on Thursday.

The two soldiers will be included in a forthcoming exhibition on the Treasures of Ancient China that opens here between February 6 to April 19.

Sources from the museum said one of the soldiers was a kneeling terracotta warrior with a sword in his hand, while the other has an upright posture.

It is the first time in 28 years that Hungary exhibits life-sized terracotta army of Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang (259-210 BC). The terracotta army was first discovered in 1974 in northwest China's Shaanxi province.

The upcoming exhibition will include over 150 works of art, including those dating back to the period between Neolithic to the 18th century.

Most of the exhibits come from the Shaanxi History Museum, the Nanjing Municipal Museum, and the Chengde Palace Museum. Endit
