Philippines clarifies only one female Filipino injured in Libya attack

Xinhua, January 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Philippine government clarified on Thursday that only one female Filipino was hurt in a recent terrorist attack in a hotel in Libya.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said that the overseas Filipino worker sustained five gunshot wounds when terrorists stormed a luxury hotel in Tripoli on Tuesday.

But she said the female engineer is now recuperating.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration attached to DOLE will provide repatriation assistance for the Filipino worker, including temporary shelter at the Halfway Home, psycho-social counseling, stress debriefing, and provision of transport services or fares for her onward travel to her home province, if she is from one, Baldoz said.

Initial reports said two overseas Filipino workers died in the attack, but Baldoz said the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office reported that the two were not Filipinos. Endi
