Roundup: KSE swells 0.06 pct amid range-bound trade

Pakistan's Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) recorded range-bound trade on Thursday as the key index resumed bullish movement but overall activities remained lackluster amid complete shutdown in Karachi.
The benchmark KSE 100-Index swelled by 0.06 percent or 21.88 points to 34,408.74 points on Thursday when compared with 34,386. 86 points recorded on Wednesday.
The KSE All Share Index dipped by 0.15 percent or 36.39 points to 24,688.92 points, the KSE 30-Index gained 0.16 percent or 36.02 points to 22,353.38 points, whereas the KMI 30-Index slumped by 0. 53 percent or 286.47 points to 53,859.8 points.
During Thursday's trading session, the key index touched an intraday high of 34,502.27 points as against an intraday low of 34, 368.25 points.
A rally was reported in Engro Corporation shares in expectation of turnaround in 2015 profitability. On the other hand, Pakistan Petroleum Limited fell after its financial result disappointed investors.
Market volumes depleted by 28.141 million shares to 206.588 million shares on Thursday as against 234.729 million shares posted on Wednesday, the capitalization reduced by 11.230 billion rupees (112.307 million U.S. dollars) to 7.785 trillion rupees (77. 856 billion U.S. dollars), whereas the trading value decreased by 544.084 million rupees (5.440 million U.S. dollars) to 14.670 billion rupees (146.703 million U.S. dollars).
Among 376 active scrips on Thursday, prices of 182 issues advanced, 162 declined, while the values of 32 other companies stayed unchanged.
Pak Elektron Limited, Lafarge Pakistan Limited and Cherat Cement were the top traded companies with turnovers of 14.053 million shares, 13.283 million shares and 12.911 million shares, respectively.
Colgate Palmolive was the top price gainer with increment of 58 rupees (58 U.S. cents) to 1,960 rupees (19.60 U.S. dollars) whereas Rafhan Maize led the major price shedders with decrement of 560 rupees (5.6 U.S. dollars) to 11,300 rupees (113 U.S. dollars). Endi
