German firms tend to recruit additional staffs: Ifo

Xinhua, January 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

The economic upturn is prompting a growing number of German firms to look for extra staffs, the Ifo institute reported here on Wednesday.

The Ifo employment barometer index rose to 108.2 points in January from 106.6 points in December, reaching its highest value since March 2012.

The Munich-based think tank said in its report that the employment barometer rose markedly in manufacturing, as manufacturers are tentatively recruiting more staff once again. Meanwhile, more firms in the service sector plan to expand their staff base.

Service providers remain the main driver behind this development, according to Ifo experts.

Ifo is one of Europe's leading research institutes and is also the economic research institute most frequently cited by the German media. The Ifo business climate index is considered as the most important barometer for the German economy. Endit
