Eurozone household savings rate nearly stable in Q3 of 2014

Eurozone household savings rate reached 13.1 percent in the third quarter of 2014, nearly stable compared with 13.0 percent in the previous quarter, EU statistical office Eurostat and the European Central Bank (ECB) said Wednesday.

In the EU, the household savings rate dropped to its record-low level, at 10.3 percent compared with 10.5 percent the previous quarter.

The data showed that in the EU, the household investment rate remained nearly stable at 7.9 percent in the third quarter of 2014, compared with 7.8 percent in the second quarter of 2014. In the euro area, the household investment rate was 8.3 percent, stable compared with the previous quarter.

In the euro area in the third quarter of 2014, in nominal terms, household income rose by 0.7 percent, consumption by 0.6 percent and investment, which was gross fixed capital formation, mostly in dwellings, rose by 1.2 percent. Enditem
