Rebels detain 6 Bulgarians in Sudan

Xinhua, January 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Rebels in Sudan on Monday detained six Bulgarian employees of a Bulgarian helicopter company, officials said here Wednesday.

The six were traveling aboard a helicopter to perform a contract with the World Food Programme (WFP) of the United Nations when they were forced to land in southern Sudan by a militant group called "Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North," the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

According to the manager of the Bulgarian company in Sudan, "the six Bulgarians are in a safe place and feel good," the ministry said.

WFP representatives have made contact with the rebel group, according to the ministry. Endi
