Tokyo stocks fall slightly in morning on weak U.S. earnings

Tokyo stocks fell 0.05 percent in the morning session of Wednesday, dragged down by weaker-than- expected U.S. corporate results and durable goods orders.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 9.67 points, from Tuesday to 17,758.63.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 2.71 points, or 0.19 percent, at 1,423. 67.

Major decliners included mining, energy and machinery issues. Endi
