Spanish home mortgages register year-on-year increase in Nov.

The number of home mortgages granted to prospective buyers in Spain increased by 14.2 percent in November when compared with the same month in 2013, the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE) reported on Tuesday.

The INE said that a total of 15,900 home mortgages were granted in November, which meant a 10.1 percent fall in comparison with October, when a total of 17,687 home mortgages were granted.

The amount of capital loaned stood at about 1.67 billion euros (1.89 billion U.S. dollars), which meant a 12.2 percent increase in comparison with the same month in 2013 and a 5.6 percent fall on a month-to-month basis.

The average value of home mortgages stood at 104,817 euros, which meant a 1.7 percent fall on a year-on-year basis and a 5 percent increase on a month-to-month basis.

Spanish home mortgages granted to prospective buyers have been rising for six consecutive months on a year-on-year basis. (1 euro = 1.13 U.S. dollars) Enditem
