Bulgaria reports single case of bird flu: official

Bulgaria has registered a single case of H5N1 bird flu near the Black Sea city of Burgas, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Tsvetan Dimitrov here on Tuesday.

The virus was detected in a Dalmatian Pelican, Dimitrov said at a press conference.

"There is nothing alarming at this stage because we have taken all necessary precautions," Dimitrov said.

Bulgaria, located along main bird migratory routes from Northern Europe to Africa, registered the first case of H5N1 in 2005. Endit
