U.S., partners continue airstrikes against IS in Syria, Iraq

The U.S. and partner-nation military forces have conducted a total of 34 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) forces in Syria and Iraq over the past two days, the U.S. Defense Department said on Monday.

According to a DOD statement, 21 airstrikes were conducted near Qaim, Raqqah and Kobani in Syria, destroying 12 IS vehicles, 14 IS tactical units, eight IS fighting positions and an IS staging area, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the international military forces conducted 13 airstrikes in six regions including Mosul, Tal Afar and Haditha across Iraq, destroying 26 IS vehicles, three IS tactical units, three IS bunkers, three IS mortar firing positions, three IS vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices and three IS fighting positions.

Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Iraq include the U.S., Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Syria include the U.S., Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Endi
