Xinhua, January 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

Unidentified gunmen shot dead an official of a district court in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Monday, while five civilians were wounded in a bomb blast in the eastern city of Jalalabad.

"Unknown armed men gunned down an administrative official of the local court in Dewan Begi area in the western part of Kabul city on Monday morning when he was on way to office," Tolo television reported.

Although, there was no comment from police about the assassination, an official, who declined to be named, said unknown armed persons targeted Hajji Ezatullah Nuri, an official of first appellate court in the 5th Police district, Monday morning and killed him on the spot.

The gunmen escaped after the attack, he said, confirming that the incident place while Nuri was on way to his office.

In another violent incident, five persons were injured when a blast shocked Jalalabad, the capital of the eastern Nangarhar province, Monday afternoon.

"A blast happened inside a hotel in Jalalabad city at around 1: 00 p.m. local time, leaving five persons, all civilians, injured," spokesman for Nangarhar provincial government Ahmad Zia Abdulzai told reporters.

He also said an investigation has been launched into the blast.

Meantime, Zabihullah Mujahid, who claimed to speak for the Taliban in contact with media outlets, said an explosion against a police vehicle in Behsoud district of Nangarhar province left two police dead and injured five others. Officials rejected the claim as baseless. Endi
