A South Korean had been kidnapped by gunmen in southern Philippine province of Zamboanga Sibugay, a military official said on Sunday.

The 73-year-old victim, Noui Hong Sung, was kidnapped from his residence in Mabuhay Village, R.T Lim town around 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, according to Vivar Crisostomo, civil military operations officer.

"He was seized from his house. There were five suspects, all armed. They (suspects) came in from a mini-van," the official said in a phone interview.

He said the military has yet to identify the suspects. However, the soldiers are coordinating with police officers to search the area where the victim was brought.

Crisostomo said they are expecting the suspects to contact with the victim's family to negotiate.

There are many lawless groups and rebels associated with kidnapping based at Mindanao, the second largest island in southern Philippines.

Another South Korean, Song Ki Eon, was kidnapped in southern province of Lanao del Sur on Jan. 19. Endi
