Level 3 of threat in Belgium extended until Feb. 9

Xinhua, January 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

The level of threat in Belgium will be maintained at 3 till Feb. 9 following a recent assessment, the Crisis Center of Interior FPS (Federal public service) of Belgium said in a statement on Saturday.

"The reasons that led to the raising of the level of threat, Thursday January 15 evening, are at present still valid," said the Coordinating Body for Threat Analysis of the kingdom.

In addition, security measures taken in this context are extended. Measures are continuously assessed and will be adapted if necessary, reports the Belga agency.

On Jan. 15, Belgium decided to upgrade the threat level to 3 on a scale of 4 after the raid in the eastern town of Verviers, in which two suspects were killed and another one detained, as well as a series of anti-terror actions in and around the capital of Brussels. Endi
