Bangladesh opposition calls for 36-hour non-stop strike

Bangladesh former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's 20-party alliance has called for a 36-hour countrywide non-stop strike from Sunday morning amid its ongoing blockade that entered 19th day on Saturday.

Khaleda's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) made the announcement in a statement on Saturday.

BNP and its allies are observing the nonstop blockade across the country since the morning of Jan. 6, demanding fresh elections under a non-party caretaker government system. Enditem
