Portugal registers best year for tourism revenue in 2014

Portugal registered its best ever year for tourism last year, according to figures released on Thursday by the Bank of Portugal.

Total tourism revenues rose 12.2 percent year on year, from 9.24 billion euros (about 10.5 billion U.S. dollars) in 2013 to 9.62 billion euros in 2014 up until November.

The best months for tourism last year were in July, August and September when revenues amounted to 3.93 billion euros.

The report also revealed that the Portuguese spent a total of 3.05 billion euros abroad last year until November. (1 euro = 1.14 U.S. dollars) Endit
