Urgent: U.S. dollar rises to 11-year high against euro

The U.S. dollar rallied against other major currencies and climbed to 11-year high against the euro on Thursday as the European Central Bank unveiled a bigger- than-expected quantitative easing program to stimulate the region' s waning economy.

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1378 dollars from 1.1591 dollars in the previous session, while the dollar bought 118.37 Japanese yen, higher than 117.94 yen of the previous session. Endite
