Tokyo shares open mixed ahead of possible ECB easing

Tokyo shares open mixed Thursday as investors are awaiting possible monetary easing by the European Central Bank in its policy meeting later of the day.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 49. 64 points, or 0.29 percent, from Wednesday's close to 17,330.12.

On the contrary, the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 0.26 point, or 0.02 percent, at 1,390.35. Endi
