Xinhua, January 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

An armed man took two hostages on Friday noon in Colombes in the west of Paris, a local media reported.

According to the news channel BFMTV, the hostage-taking occurred at 13:00 local time ( 1200 GMT) after an armed man entered an office of La Poste and seized two people.

The hostage-taker was a person with past convictions, and he called the police himself. But, his demands were not clear yet, it was reported.

A civil security helicopter flew over the area where a large security perimeter was set up.

The new hostage taking came after an Islamist gunman killed four hostages at a Jewish supermarket last Friday. Two brothers shot dead 12 people in an attack on the satirical paper Charlie Hebdo two days earlier. Endit
