Seoul shares ended slightly higher on Thursday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) inched up 0.48 points, or 0.03 percent, to 1,914.14 at the close. Trading volume stood at 263.29 million shares worth 3.77 trillion won (3. 48 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian stock market closed down for the fourth day in a row at the close of trading on Thursday.
At the official Australian market close, the benchmark S&P/ ASX200 index was down 22.2 points, or 0.41 percent, at 5331.4 points. The broader All Ordinaries index lost 21.6 points, or 0.41 percent, to 5310.6 points.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks ended 1.86 percent higher Thursday as rebounding crude oil prices and a weaker yen eased market sentiment.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 312.74 points, from Wednesday at 17,108.70.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Thursday up 0.59 percent against the previous trading day.
The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 8.23 points to 1,413.99. A total of 38,501 shares worth about 207 million Lao kip (about 26,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 238.31 points, or 0.99 percent to 24,350.91 points on Thursday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,070.39 and 24, 369.00. Turnover totaled 93.11 billion HK dollars (about 11.99 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 577.74 points on Thursday, up 0.73 points, or 0.13 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.
About 120.095 million shares worth 2.016 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (93.98 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 129 stocks went up, 68 stocks fell down, while 91 stocks remained unchanged.

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed down 0.16 percent on Thursday with the weighted index down 15.14 points at 9,165.09, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Thursday. The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,745.00 up 2.99 points or 0.17 percent, and the Emas was at 12,016.47 up 25.41 points or 0.21 percent.
Turnover declined to 1.93 billion shares valued at 2.30 billion ringgit Malaysia (645.70 million U.S. dollars), compared with 1.77 billion shares valued at 2.44 billion ringgit Malaysia (678.63 million U.S. dollars) on Wednesday.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed higher by 29.04 points, or 0.56 percent, to a level of 5,188.71 on Thursday.

MUMBAI -- Indian stocks surged on Thursday with the BSE benchmark index Sensex closing at 28,075.55 points, up 728.73 points or 2.66 percent from the previous close of 27,346.82 points, after a key rate cut by the central bank.
