3 soldiers, 4 militants killed in Afghanistan within day: official

Four Taliban militants have been killed in clashes with the army in Afghanistan within the past 24 hours while three soldiers lost their lives in bomb attacks elsewhere, the country's Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"Over the past 24 hours, four terrorists were killed, and three detained following army operations and clashes, and three army soldiers died in roadside bomb attacks," the ministry said in a statement.

The Afghan army specialists have recovered and defused 24 roadside bombs and landmines recently planted by militants across the country over the same period, according to the statement.

The Taliban has intensified attacks over the past months as the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) assumed full security charges from NATO-led troops after a four-year security transition earlier this month. Endi
