Tokyo stocks end higher on crude rebound, weaker yen

Tokyo stocks ended 1.86 percent higher Thursday as rebounding crude oil prices and a weaker yen eased market sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 312.74 points, from Wednesday at 17,108.70.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange soared 18.62 points, or 1.37 percent, at 1, 376.60.

Major gaining industry sectors included mining, construction and rubber.

The turnover was 2,330.3 billion yen (19.80 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
