French stock market index down 1.56 pct on Wednesday

The French stock market benchmark index CAC 40 experienced a strong decrease of 1.56 percent to close at 4,223.24 points on Wednesday, down 67.04 points.

With bad economic indicators published, both Wall Street and the CAC 40 were negatively affected. By closing, 37 of the 40 selected companies experienced decrease.

The only three companies that gained advance Wednesday were Carrefour, up 2.24 percent, Unibail-Rodamco, up 0.09 percent, and Veolia Environnement, up 0.06 percent.

The three companies which lost most Wednesday were ArcelorMittal, down 5.88 percent, EDF, down 5.80 percent, and GDF Suez, down 3.33 percent.

In previous trading day, Jan. 13, the CAC 40 gained an advance of 1.47 percent to close at 4,290.29 points, up 62.04 points. Endit
