Elano agrees to Santos return

Xinhua, January 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Former Brazil midfielder Elano on Tuesday agreed to a three-month contract with his former club Santos.

The 33-year-old will be tied to the eight-time Brazilian champions until the end of the Sao Paulo state championship in April, according to Brazilian sports news portal Lancenet.

It is understood Santos will have the option of extending the former Manchester City player's contract.

Elano had been a free agent after ending a successful spell with Indian Super League outfit Chennaiyin in December.

He was the competition's leading scorer with eight goals, despite missing more than a third of the season with a calf injury.

It is understood Elano's friend Robinho, currently on loan at Santos from AC Milan, was influential in the playmaker's return.

Capped 50 times for Brazil, Elano has won five trophies in two separate spells at Santos. Endite
