Klavs Bruun Joergensen was introduced as the new coach of Danish women's national handball team at a press conference held in Broendby of Denmark on Tuesday.

Joergensen previously served as coach of the now-defunct club AG Copenhagen, and he has been in charge of Team Tvis Holstebro since 2012.

The 40-year-old Dane joins the Danish Handball Federation on a three-year contract beginning from June 1, 2015, while Soeren Herskind, who had coached AG Copenhagen together with Joergensen, takes over the job as assistant coach.

"Coaching job is a proud profession for me, and I look forward to working with the very best players and participating in major international tournaments," Joergensen said.

The new coaching team have a big job ahead of them as the 2015 World Women's Handball Championship will be held on home soil in December.

"We get an extremely strong team, and when they said yes to the job, it is a strong signal that the women's national team is developing rapidly and now takes another step forward," said Morten Stig Christensen, the Secretary-General of Danish Handball Federation. Endite
