Xinhua, January 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

The South Korea government on Tuesday pledged to help Kenya achieve its UN Development Millennium Goals (MGDs) with more emphasis on the development of technical education.

Advisor for presidency Tae Hong Jie, who is visiting with a team Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), said development of technical education was key to the attainment of Kenya's Vision 2030. He said he was impressed with the evaluation and analysis done by Kenya on the country's industrial development

"We need to encourage direct investments. Korea is keen to bring more investors into Kenya," Jie said during a meeting with Kenyan Deputy President William Ruto.

Jie said there was need to encourage more investments between the two countries, adding that Korea investors were willing to invest in Kenya.

Speaking during the meeting, Ruto extended appreciation and showed Kenya's hopes for Korea's support in the fields of industrial human resource training and agriculture.

He said Kenya welcomes business participation from Korea, and expressed hopes for expanded trade volume between the two nations. The deputy president said Kenya was keen to attract foreign investments as it was the economic hub of the entire region.

"It is time now Kenya takes advantage of the changing dynamics in the world labour market with the cost of labour gradually increasing in Asia. Africa had enough labour resources to fill the gap," Ruto said.

The KOICA team appreciated the warm reception noting that the partnership between the two countries would further improve. Endi
