Two civilians were killed while two others wounded in a bomb attack in Afghan capital of Kabul on early Tuesday, police said. "A sticky bomb attached to a car went off in front of Mir Kabuli mosque in Aqa Ali Shams locality in southwestern Kabul. The blast killed the driver and injured a woman aboard the vehicle," a police source told Xinhua anonymously.
The explosion, which occurred around 7:00 a.m. (0230 GMT), also killed the driver and injured a passenger of a minibus passing by the site, he said, adding that an investigation was launched into the incident.
Further details about the passengers of the targeted vehicle remained unknown.
The explosion destroyed the vehicle besides damaging the mosque and shattered the glass of several houses and shops around the location.
Taliban insurgent group claimed responsibility for the incident shortly after the attack.
Taliban militants fighting the Afghan government have largely resorted to carrying out suicide bombings and sticky bomb attacks, a tactic that have been proved challenging for the security forces.
More than 3,180 civilians were killed and nearly 6,430 others wounded in conflicts and Taliban-led attacks from Jan. 1 to Nov. 30 last year, according to official figures released by UN mission in the country.
The officials blamed the attacks of Taliban and other armed groups for vast majority of the civilian deaths and injuries. Endi
